The underlying principle

In adults, the total number of fat cells is essentially fixed. Liposuction physically removes a portion of those cells, and the removed cells do not regenerate.

• ❌ Misconception: it is not "done once, thin forever" — the fat cells that remain can still swell and enlarge

The real logic of "rebound"

The fat cells left behind keep their ability to grow. If you overeat in the months after surgery and run a sustained calorie surplus, the remaining cells in that area expand and the area gets fuller again — which looks like a "rebound", even though no new cells appeared.
